Who We Are

We are Davis and Brandon Cruz, a father-son duo with a passion for good food and on a mission to improve the lives of those on a purée diet. Our journey began with a YouTube channel focused on helping individuals affected by dysphagia. Our goal is to provide guidance and recipes that adhere to the International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative (IDDSI), ensuring that everyone can enjoy great-tasting meals despite dietary restrictions.

Our Story

Tasty Purée started as a heartfelt response to a significant gap in food options available for those on a purée diet. As an Executive Chef at a highly recognized hospital with 30 years of experience in healthcare, Davis Cruz has been at the forefront of implementing IDDSI-standardized meals since 2019. His expertise and dedication to this cause has been instrumental in shaping their approach to food preparation and safety.

Their journey into the world of purée diets was further inspired when Brandon learned from Davis the challenges faced by patients transitioning to a purée diet after leaving the hospital. Realizing the lack of accessible, tasty purée meal options for home consumption, they decided to take action. Their YouTube channel was born, offering fun, easy-to-follow recipes that made puréeing meals less intimidating. The positive feedback from viewers, included heartfelt messages of gratitude from those affected by dysphagia, affirmed they were making a difference.

Our Mission

At Tasty Purée, we believe that food is medicine, and everyone deserves the resources to make great-tasting food, regardless of their dietary needs. Our mission is to ensure that individuals on a purée diet can enjoy meals that are both delicious and safe. We strive to bring a sense of normalcy and pleasure back to dining, even for those who face the challenges of dysphagia, aging, cancer, or other medical conditions.

Our Commitment

For too long, people on purée diets have been left to fend for themselves with limited guidance and subpar meal options. Tasty Purée is committed to changing that. Tasty Purée meals are rigorously tested to meet IDDSI standards, ensuring the correct texture and safety for those with swallowing difficulties. Chef Davis Cruz extends his expertise by providing IDDSI training, which is helping more and more people benefit from properly prepared purée meals. 

Davis and Brandon's dedication to this cause is deeply personal. When Brandon's uncle was diagnosed with throat cancer and required a soft-food diet, Davis prepared him puréed meals, continually refining recipes based on his feedback. This experience reinforced Davis and Brandon's commitment to creating delicious puréed foods to share with others.
